FYRE (First Year Research Essentials): Introduction to the workshop

Welcome to First Year College Study Skills

This guide gives you some basic information that you need to know about studying at university.

It covers:

  • how to find material for your assessment tasks
  • how to tell if what you have found is any good
  • expectations around honesty and fairness when studying
  • referencing, or giving credit to the sources you use.
  • key features of academic writing and methods of embedding evidence

At university you are expected to manage your own learning. This means that you are responsible for knowing what is expected of you and making sure that you are prepared.

There is a quiz in your Unit Space to be completed after this workshop. Once successfully completed you will get a certificate from the Dean of First Year College.
