Research Academic Profiles: Critical Checklist of things to do before 'Go Live'

This guide provides an overview of the Research Academic Profile and instructions on how to edit/create profiles.

Critical Checklist

  • Fix Bio
  • Make sure you upload a suitable photo if one has not already been applied for you. A suitable photo is:
    - headshot
    - facing the camera directly
    - white background
    - file size under 6.3mb
  • Ensure you complete the privacy settings - Please ensure you complete any relevant privacy settings. A key one is to make your profile internal' (visible within VU only) or 'public' as you prefer.
  • Setting the UNSDG codes. This is very important for university impact ranking, and a key reason for implementing the new system

How to fix your title

Updating the title that appears on your profile: this information comes from the HR feed. For example, you may want to change your title from Professor, Mr, Miss, etc. to better reflect your research position at Victoria University.

Here’s what to do to change it – go to the People First page => from the 'Me' section of your account click on ‘Personal Details’ then click on edit and change your title. My understanding is P&C will update their system and then the change will be reflected on other platforms. You can also put in a job request to the P&C help desk to make the change.

'Go Live' date

The 'Go Live' date is scheduled for 30/6/25. We strongly recommend that you complete the checklist above before this date to ensure that your profile contains a basic set of information and doesn't display anything you prefer to private or internal. If you don't want your profile to go live on the cut over date you need to select internal and then move it back to public when it's ready.
