Brilliant Women of VU: Liz Beattie

Liz Beattie

Elizabeth "Liz" Beattie has been a significant contributor to Victoria University (VU) through her role on the University Council. Her extensive experience in public service and governance has been invaluable to the University's strategic direction and community engagement. Before her involvement with VU, Liz served as a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1999 to 2014, representing the Australian Labor Party. During her tenure, she held various positions, including Parliamentary Secretary roles in Multicultural Affairs, Veterans' Affairs, Planning, Education, and Tourism, Sport, and the Commonwealth Games. 

In addition to her political career, Liz has been active in governance roles, such as serving as the Deputy Trust Chair and Community Advisory Committee Chair for the Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust. Liz's diverse background and dedication to public service have significantly benefited Victoria University, particularly in areas of governance and community relations.
