Doreen Parker

Doreen Parker is a notable figure in Australian librarianship, having served as the University Librarian at Victoria University of Technology (now Victoria University) in Melbourne. During her tenure, she implemented a Total Quality Service (TQS) program aimed at enhancing library services by focusing on client needs and continuous improvement. This initiative involved comprehensive client market research, strategy formulation, staff training, and the establishment of process improvement procedures.

Doreen Parker contributed to the academic discourse on library services. She authored a report titled "Possible futures and their implications for the LAA," which was a product of the Library Association of Australia's Futures Committee's Sydney Workshop in 1983. She also participated in international conferences, such as the 2001 International Association of Technological University Libraries (IATUL) Proceedings. Through her initiatives and scholarly contributions, Doreen Parker has played a significant role in advancing library services and practices in Australia.
