Gaye Hamilton

Gaye Hamilton has been a prominent figure at Victoria University (VU), serving in key leadership roles that have significantly influenced the institution's development and its connection to the community. She held the positions of Deputy Chancellor and Co-Chancellor, guiding the university through pivotal moments, including the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Her leadership was instrumental in navigating the complexities of this period, ensuring that VU continued to thrive and support its students and staff. 

Beyond her administrative roles, Hamilton has been a passionate advocate for Melbourne's western suburbs. Her dedication to social justice and community development is evident through her involvement with the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation, where she served as Chair. In this capacity, she worked to redirect programs to digital platforms during lockdowns, maintaining engagement with the community and supporting those in need. Gaye Hamilton was honored as the 2022 Victoria Senior Australian of the Year, and in 2025 was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the General Division for significant service to tertiary education and to the community.
