E-books Guide: Overview

This guide provides an overview of e-book collections at Victoria University, focusing on how to find e-books, read online, print/copy as well as how to download e-books and where to find further help.

The e-books at Victoria University have been purchased from various providers and can be accessed through Library Search 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

E-books can be read entirely online, or downloaded to your PC or mobile device.

To read the book online, you need a secure internet connection the whole time. Various features are available when reading the book online such as searching within the book, printing/copying, annotating and copying citations. Refer to the Reading e-books page for further information.

To download the book you need a secure internet connection however, once the book is downloaded, you can read the book offline (no internet access required). Once downloaded, an e-book can be viewed on your other devices. Simply link to the e-book through Library Search and login in with your MyVU login and password. Many (but not all) VU Library resources can be accessed through VU Library Search. Keywords or search terms can be entered in the search box.

The library also provides tools to allow users to search for the book, journal article, video, or newspaper whether in physical or electronic format. These tools are located below the main search box on the library website. Consider the text listed under each of the search tools. 

1. A-Z Databases - Find articles, ebooks, streaming videos, case studies and special collections.

2. Publication Finder - Find online publications by title - journals and ebooks.

3. BrowZine - Easy browsing of scholarly journals on any device.
